EFT Freedom or Tapping to Freedom
I just had to write this post – what a few days/daze it’s been. Since returning to Sydney in 2009 I started using EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique or tapping) again. It’s a technique I learned and discarded some years back because (at the time) it didn’t fit with who I was or what I was doing. Then, as is often the case when one rediscovers something, I came to it through ‘desperation’. You see I was ‘stuck’ unable to shift a problem with one of our kids so I decided to try EFT; why not? I’d had run out of options and it was 3:00am – where do you find new options at that hour of the morning? Lo and behold, we had a breakthrough. I began to ask myself – had the other things kicked in? Was it luck? What really happened? So in pursuit of clarity, I decided to experiment on myself and of course the family
I was so pleased with the outcomes I have (re) introduced EFT into clinic.
And while am happily use it in clinic, I remained dissatisfied with the standard explanation. I know EFT works, I use it. I never use anything in clinic I have not already had success with – so I know it works. And Aussies are a cynical bunch. As a cultural group, we seem to want (need even…) a ‘plausible’ or rational explanation for things (like either of those terms are straight forward). And descriptions like emotional acupuncture leave most Aussies shaking their heads…especially when you ask them to ‘tap themselves’ and say things like I honour and accept myself…Finally, I have some new ways of explaining why EFT works and the explanation should satisfy even the most sceptical person because it’s based on research.
Ban on Herbal Medicine
I am nothing short of appalled at what is happening in the UK. When a Government tries to pass legislation that essentially makes all medicinal herbs illegal across Europe what else can you be? And that is exactly what the Government in the UK is trying to do as we speak. If you value your right to make choices about how you care for your own health then please read on and then sign the petition NOW.
If this act is passed it will put Natural Health Products in the same category as drugs (‘therapeutic products’). In Canada the Bill passed there makes herbal medicine available only through prescription (i.e. ‘please doctor, could I get some vitamin C?’). In Europe the cost for obtaining approval to sell a natural product is estimated at £80,000 and set to rise to an estimated £120,000 per herb. I am sure you wont be surprised to learn that each herb of a given compound must be treated separately. So those (often sole) practitioners who prescribe herbal medicines comprising multiple herbs will be unable to practice because they will not be able to pay to have each herb verified. If passed, this bill will effectively eliminate most practitioners and increase the cost of natural medicine. The only companies with enough capital to test, verify and make natural medicines will be the big Pharmas, thus enabling them to corner the market they have helped to destroy.
Stress – a normal part of living?
We all know that Stress is a normal part of living. In fact Hans Selye, the ‘father of stress theory’ went so far as to say “if you have no stress in your life you are dead”. But only few of us really understand just how destructive the effects of prolonged stress can be on our overall health. Many of us just accept long term stress as the cost of living in the 21st century. But as you will see prolonged stress comes with a steep price. How much are you prepared to pay? And what if I told you there is another real option?
As natural health practitioner I am 100% committed to working with clients to manage stress and reduce its harmful effects. I understand the impact not dealing appropriately with stress has on our bodies and psyches. I see it every day in clinic it is a major catalyst for illness and dis-ease. In this article I discuss my understanding of stress and how it affects you and your health long term. Stay tuned for part two because I discuss some techniques from a stress relief system I have developed; ‘living calm’. Mix and match these techniques to suit your lifestyle and reap the rewards in your health and quality of life.
Focus On What You Want
This post is written specifically for anyone not living the life they have dreamed of. If you are living the perfect life then surf on and see you next week. If not, then maybe we can help. Let us share with you something we are working with – again… the principle of the Law of Attraction or focusing on what you want. OK – busted… I have been re-watching The Secret and it’s something I should have done ages ago. You know when you kinda half remember something and then when you are reminded of it you are like – ‘oh yeah – why did we ever stop doing that? Well that was how I was with the Law of Attraction/ The Secret.
I was half applying the principles of The Secret for years and then wondering why it seemed to work sporadically. Then as I was watching it, again, I remembered some things; snippets from my past which were reminders that I had always at one level or another, believed and lived by the ideas of the secret. For example, I remember when I was as young as about seven I was playing ping pong with my older brother and one of his friends – they were about 19 yrs old at the time. Anyway my brothers friend broke my bat. Our family did not have much (any) money. The ping pong set was a gift and so very precious; I was heartbroken. The boy promised to replace it. He didn’t have money either. After they left, my Mother, in an attempt to save me from being disappointed said “don’t be upset – he will not replace the bat” which on the face of the situation seemed pretty reasonable.
I knew better – I had (as Lisa Nichols puts it in the film) unwavering faith – I knew, like I knew, like I knew he would replace it. Anyway he visited three or four times after and each time he visited I would be quietly expectant and he’d said “I’ll bring it next time“. After each visit my Mother would repeat her ‘comforting mantra’ and I would repeat mine. It became a piece of theater. By the time the boy left after his fourth visit Mum got cranky with me because I “did not learn”. True, at this you could understand why she thought I was bring “silly” and I held my belief. Anyway on the fifth visit he brought the bat – just as I knew he would. My mother was surprised to say the least – though I don’t remember her saying anything afterwards. I didn’t care – I just knew… and sometimes things just take a little longer than you think they should
